Northeastern Michigan’s miles of trout streams assure the finest fishing available anywhere. Northeastern Michigan’s lakes, ponds, rivers and streams offer some of the best fishing available in the nation. Serious trout fishermen have hundreds of miles of cool, crystal clear streams to explore. Numerous access points and public fishing sites are convenient for anglers. Some streams offer easy wading, while others are more effectively navigated by canoe or riverboat handled by a local guide. Fishing regulations vary between sections of rivers and streams with some designated for “flies only” or “catch and release”, but the majority of these waters are open to any type of fishing. The AuSable River and it’s tributaries provide excellent fishing for a variety of species. Check our Rivers & Streams page to see which fish species are available. Northeastern Michigan is home to great trout streams. Check out our Blue Ribbon Trout Streams. The Great Lakes provide excellent Chinook, Coho, Lake Trout, Brown Trout and Steelhead fishing.
